Historical City Walks
A guided historical city walk is the ideal way to discover the city! The Historical Centre Leeuwarden (HCL) has an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group of guides that can tell you about the fascinating history of the town. Private walks, with various historical subjects as themes and along different routes, are available on request. A tour of the Town Hall or a guided bike ride is also an option. English-speaking guides are available, as well as some that speak other languages. The tours are suitable for children and participants with walking difficulty. The costs for guided tours are € 50.00. The walks take about 90 minutes.
The Highlights Tour is perfect to get to know (the history of) Leeuwarden! An expert local guide will take you through the historical city centre. The guide will show you the highlights such as the leaning tower the Oldehove and the palaces of the Frisian 'stadtholders'. The Highlights Tour is held every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Start: 13.15h in front of the HCL (Groeneweg 1). Booking ahead is recommended, but not mandatory. After the walk you can climb the Oldehove. Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours Participants: max. 20. Price: € 3.50 p.p.
